Bronze Cross Course - Spring 2025

Dauphin Recreation Services will be offering the Bronze Cross Course this spring.

Pre-requisite: Bronze Medallion – need not be current

The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies.

Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for National Lifeguard and Lifesaving Instructor.

Summer Swimming Lessons 2025

Registration for Summer Swimming Lessons will open on Wednesday, May 14th at 6:00am.

We will only be offering four sessions this summer.
If you do not get your child into lessons, please put them on a waitlist. This is how we determine what classes to add.

We will be offering private and semi-private lessons throughout the summer.

SS Hockey Camp 2025

Mark Scott is a former professional hockey player and a great youth coach. The camp will cover power skating, edges, shooting & passing, stick handling, and proper skating technique.

Monday, August 18th - Wednesday, August 20th
Credit Union Place/Parkland Recreation Complex, Dauphin MB
1:00 - 3:30pm, each day
Cost: $279/person
This camp is for children aged 7-12; maximum 24 skaters

Day 1
1:00 - 2:30pm, on ice
Forward stride, resistance, lateral movement, speed with puck, FUN!
2:50 - 3:30pm, dryland
Dynamic stretching and hockey stick workout.

Day 2
1:00 - 2:30pm, on ice
Agility/edge control, stropping, backward stride, passing, shooting, overspeed.
2:50 - 3:30pm, dryland
Bootcamp style workout.

Day 3
1:00 - 2:30pm, on ice
Crossovers, stick handling, signature moves, FUN!
2:50 - 3:30pm, dryland
Stickhandling stations

Swim for Life Instructor Course - Summer 2025

Swim for Life Instructor - Course

The Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor course prepares the instructor to teach and evaluate the swimming strokes and related skills found in the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program. Candidates acquire proven teaching methods, planning skills, and a variety of stroke development drills and correction techniques.

Prerequisites: 15 years of age by the end of the course; Bronze Cross certification (need not be current).

National Lifeguard Course - Spring 2025

Dauphin Recreation Services will be offering the NLS course this spring!

National Lifeguard certification is Canada's professional lifeguarding standard.


National Lifeguard training develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude towards the lifeguard's role.

National Lifeguard training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies including first aid treatment. The Lifesaving Society trains all of Canada's National Lifeguards.

Cost: $350

June 6th, 7th & 8th
June 13th, 14th & 15th
* Fridays, 5-9pm; Saturdays & Sundays, 9am-5pm*

Participants are to bring the following: Canadian Lifesaving Manual, towels and bathing suits, First Aid Manual (ABC on cover), and a whistle (Fox 40).

Pre-requisites: - 15 years of age by the day of the exam - Bronze Cross by the first day of the course (does not need to be current) - Standard First Aid by the first day of the course (does not need to be current)

The Lifesaving Society has developed a training curriculum which provides candidates a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgement and communication skills as well as responsible attitude towards lifeguarding duties. A lifeguard's primary role is the prevention of emergency situations and when necessary, a timely, effective response.

National Lifeguarding training is designed to prepare candidates of the duties they will encounter as professional facilitators of safe and enjoyable aquatic activities.
