Lifeguards

Kinsmen Aquatic Centre lifeguards are there to provide the public with a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience. Their greatest challenge is to maximize the patrons fun while minimizing their risk of injury. Lifeguards are special people and trained professionals who are there to help you! Some of the special skills that a lifeguards must possess include:

Good Communication: Without it Lifeguards would not be able to teach patrons water safety and stop inappropriate behavior around a water setting. Communication is also important for a Lifeguard to calm and reassure an injured victim while relaying the situation to other Lifeguards on the team.

Alert and Knowledgeable: A Lifeguard must always look for and expect the unexpected. When scanning, a Lifeguard is constantly assessing the environment looking for individuals who may be in trouble. This is why we ask that you be with your children in the pool. To the Lifeguard, your child is one of many in a very large, busy and noisy environment.

Approachable and Friendly: To best serve the public, Lifeguards must be approachable to all patrons. To do this, lifeguards must know their users, the facility and what the patron expects when visiting the Aquatic Centre.

You will be able to express your ideas and thoughts and have such duties as taking pool tests, blasting your whistle and sitting in the lifeguard chair.
